In today's digital age, the efficiency and accuracy of financial transactions are more crucial than ever. The implementation of e-Invoices in Malaysia is a significant step towards streamlining business processes and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. But one common question remains: Do businesses need to submit an e-Invoice on the
same day the transaction is made?

Do Businesses Need to Submit an e-Invoice on the Same Day the Transaction is Made?
The answer is no. There is no specific requirement for the timing of e-Invoice issuance, except in certain cases such as consolidated e-Invoices, self-billed e-Invoices for importation of goods/services, and e-Invoices for foreign income. Here's a breakdown of the requirements:

Consolidated e-Invoice:
Suppliers are required to issue the consolidated e-Invoice within seven
(7) calendar days after the end of the month.

Self-billed e-Invoice for Importation of Goods:
Malaysian purchasers must issue a self-billed e-Invoice by the end of the month following the month customs clearance is obtained.

Self-billed e-Invoice for Importation of Services:
Malaysian purchasers must issue a self-billed e-Invoice by the end of the month following the month of either (1) payment made by the Malaysian purchaser or (2) receipt of the invoice from the
foreign supplier, whichever is earlier. The determination of the aforementioned (1) and (2) is in accordance with the prevailing rules applicable for imported taxable services.

e-Invoice for Foreign Income:
Suppliers (i.e., income recipients) are required to issue the e-Invoice by the end of the month following the month of receipt of the foreign income.
In all other situations, there is flexibility in the timing of issuing e-Invoices. However, businesses should ensure that they comply with any specific legislation that may apply to their transactions.

Navigating the landscape of e-Invoicing can be challenging, but understanding the specific timing requirements is crucial for maintaining compliance and ensuring smooth business operations. For more detailed information
and updates, businesses should stay informed about the latest regulations and consult with tax professionals as needed.
