To support the digitization and technological transformation of tax services, the Malaysian Inland Revenue Board (HASiL) announced that starting from September 1, 2023, the mandatory use of electronic services (e-Perkhidmatan) will be phased in. This means that,
to better serve the people, tax affairs will become more digitized and convenient.
IRB will progressively enforce the use of online tax services provided by the MyTax website platform for taxpayers. This reform aims to strengthen the digital service delivery system, ensuring taxpayers can easily and efficiently
manage their tax affairs.
The Malaysian government has been committed to enhancing the quality of online services, and this initiative is an important step towards that goal. The current service model will gradually transition to comprehensive online services, where all aspects related to taxation,
including applications, submissions, payments, changes, and even information inquiries, will be conducted online.
The following is a list of electronic services that will be progressively enforced starting from September 1, 2023:
Application for Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
- E-Daftar: This application allows taxpayers to apply for Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) online
Applying for PIN (Registering for the first online tax filing login account on MyTax)
- e-KYC: This feature allows taxpayers to apply for digital certificates through the MyTax mobile application. Taxpayers need to match a photo from their MyKad/passport with a selfie to verify their identity online.
- e-CP55D: This feature allows taxpayers to apply for a digital certificate through a desktop or laptop computer via the MyTax web portal.
