Today, I’m not writing to you about tax…although tax penalties in the millions sometimes do happen (*touch wood*).

This is the cautionary tale of a company that spent $4 million to invest in software and systems for the sake of “Digital Transformation” and ended up with no results to show for it.

I say “Digital Transformation” with huge quote marks because what that company did can hardly be considered digital transformation. It was just a bad investment made without a clear digital vision, and I imagine that their management-level conversations about it went something like this:
