Q:
If Tony's mother receives RM 30,000 pension every year, can he claim the parent care relief for his mother?
A:
Pension is also a form of income, so if the pension received by Tony’s mother is more than RM 24,000 per year, one of the parent care relief criteria is not fulfilled, thus Tony cannot claim the parent care relief.
Q:
If Charles' education fee is subsidised by his company, is he still eligible to claim the education fee tax relief?
A:
If the bill for the education fee is under Charles’ personal name, he can still claim the education fee tax relief. But the subsidy given by the company is a perquisite given to him which is considered as a taxable income.
